Since 20yrs I am referring my patients of kidney stones, chronic renal failure,diabetes & obesity to Dr Goradia. The best Nutritionist award is what I would give her. Never imagined a dietitian could be so personalized. I am 56 years having osteoarthritis and have suffered from stroke.i was unable to walk or cross the road.i was wearing special shoes . She's the only person who taught me to exercise at my age and enjoy my workout. I lost inches and kgs under her supervision. This gave me a new confidence in myself. As a child I always had a weaker core and refrained from eating maggi or chocolates or anything made of maida. Even when I grew up I couldn't eat out as per my will. When I first came to Dr Yogita I was addicted to sweets, stress and being unhappy. I carried suitcase full of disease. I was on medications for PCOS & deepression, was pre-diabetic and fatigued, steroids for lupus. Along with this I was overweight post delivery with 2 babies. My mothers sudden death caused me to put my health on back burner, stopped working out, wouldn’t eat, skipped breakfast, lunch and when hungry just ate sweets and added 13kgs to my weight. But after meeting Dr Yogita the best thing was she asked me what do I like to eat and plan my diet accordingly. After her diet plan I enjoy what I eat and I am losing weight. Dr Yogita not only helped me with eating, she coaxed me to exercise/ walk. She would always motivate me to do better. Slowly and steadiely I lost 13kgs that wouldn’t come back. I have started my journey in January 2012 weighing 68kgs, I had delivered a few months back in April 2012. I put on 27 kilos and couldnt accept the fact that my body had gone through sooo many changes. Usually one looses a few kilos after they deliver but i just lost 3 kilos. My mother is 56 and about 6 months back she was facing a lot of problems while walking. We thought that age was getting better off her. She had also started to loose confidence while crossing the road or walking for little longer. We consulted couple of Orthopedics and they concluded that is was possibily Arthritis and suggested to avoid a surgery as much as we can. We didn't havr any clear guideline. I distantly remember the 1st day of my internship she told me- "Look I am not going to run behind you. If you show interest with the quality of your work, I will teach you everything. But if u slack of, you are on your own" And pray tell, did she not deliver. One of the best teacher's I had the pleasure of learning under. Some important life lessons as a nutritionist I picked from her were- • U don't need to slog for 8 hours. If the work can be done in just 4 hrs, get it done. At the end the quality matters. • Meeting the patients requirements is always important, but what's more important is seeing the COMPLIANCE of your diet. Be it a kid, an elderly person, etc etc they should like the diet and it should be easy to follow. • Monotony is so old school, think innovative..!! • Her random tips/comments about the most trivial things that we should know but unfortunately don't know. Like did you know - Vanilla ice cream has considerably low fat content as compare to other flavour?? Well, only someone as experienced as her may know.
